Thesis Title: “Early-onset type two diabetes in Indigenous Australians: A multi-omics cohort investigation”
Research on early-onset Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations is critical and overdue. Characterised by rapid disease progression, high morbidity and higher complications and mortality, this sub-phenotype requires more nuanced understandings of its development and progression. This doctoral program aims to integrate Indigenous knowledge systems within epidemiological and multi-omics methods, to analyse the inter-relationships between social, environmental, psychological, clinical, and multi-omics correlates of early-onset T2D in Indigenous populations.
