Welcoming Beth Wadling and Adam Heterick.

We are happy to announce two new team members joining our network!

Beth Wadling – Genetic Counsellor, ALIGN

As an Aboriginal Genetic Counsellor I am passionate about improving understanding and increasing access to genetic health care for Indigenous people. In my clinical work I have had the privilege to meet and discuss genetics with people from all walks of life, empowering them to make informed decisions about genetic and genomic medicine. I am thrilled to be joining the ALIGN team and collaborating with researchers, stakeholders and communities to together work towards improving health outcomes for our mob.

Adam Heterick – Bioinformatics Officer, Indigenous Genomics

A Wiradjuri man from Western NSW, a lover of data, dad Jokes and dogs. I have my masters in Bioinformatics from ECU, although I feel my wife deserves equal credit for that degree because she kept us all sane for that 2 years while I was attached to my computer every night til 1am.I’ll be working on 2 things initially:

  • Developing Data Sovereignty and Governance frameworks for Indigenous Communities from Western Newfoundland, and,
  • Pharmacogenomics for NCIG aimed at identifying the impact of unique genomics regions of Indigenous Australians on the metabolism of common pharmacological treatments.
